DR. MUHAMMAD KHALEEQUZZAMAN
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer
The IRM Team is led by Dr. Muhammad Khaleequzzaman, Founding Chairman & CEO since 2007. With over 25 years of senior leadership in the banking sector and a PhD in Islamic Banking & Finance from IIUI, he brings unmatched expertise in Islamic finance and development.
Dr. Khaleequzzaman has served as Chairman and Head of Training at the School of Islamic Banking & Finance, IIUI (2003–2019), and holds an MS Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He also earned certifications from the State Bank of Pakistan and pursued advanced training in Islamic finance, takaful, microfinance, and regulatory frameworks.
He has advised global and national institutions including the World Bank, Islamic Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, State Bank of Pakistan, USAID, SDC, IFAD, and the Government of Pakistan. Widely recognized as a trainer and consultant, Dr. Khaleequzzaman has designed Islamic financial systems, products, and institutions, while mentoring countless professionals in Pakistan and abroad.
DR. ADNAN AZIZ
Managing Director
Dr. Adnan Aziz is an internationally acclaimed Islamic finance professional, Shariah expert, and strategist with decades of academic and industry experience. With formal training in Islamic economics, banking, and finance, he has advised on multi-billion-dollar transactions and mobilized significant private investments into Islamic financial products.
As a seasoned strategist, Dr. Aziz has provided leadership and oversight to financial institutions while also serving as a sought-after corporate trainer and international speaker. He regularly contributes to global conferences and workshops on Islamic banking and finance, sharing his expertise in product development, Shariah compliance, and financial strategy.
Beyond the industry, Dr. Aziz has been actively engaged in pro-poor development, pioneering Islamic microfinance and enterprise development initiatives. A strong advocate of Islamic social finance, he champions the integration of social responsibility into mainstream financial practices, ensuring that innovation and commercial growth go hand in hand with developmental impact.
IRM TEAM
Other team members include senior professionals with advanced academic qualifications such as PhDs in economics and corporate finance, chartered accountancy, Shariah and law, as well as Shahada Aalamiya and Takhassus (specialization) in Ifta’. The team also includes AAOIFI-certified Shariah auditors and accountants with substantial hands-on experience across financial institutions, capital markets, socio-economic projects, and NGOs. Collectively, they have provided consulting services in Pakistan, the UK, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Turkey, and many other countries.
The team’s expertise covers a wide spectrum: Shariah structuring and Islamic product innovation; senior consultancy and Shariah advisory for banks, funds, and takaful companies; financial modelling and accounting system design aligned with AAOIFI and international reporting standards; and business development with a strong track record in microfinance, SMEs, and project management.
Supporting these technical specialists, operations are managed by an experienced Operations Manager with the assistance of accounts and administration associates, ensuring smooth organizational functioning.
