Islamic Microfinance Capacity Building Consultancy for SLCDD-II project of Sierra Leone
Client: National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) on behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone
The project includes introducing Islamic microfinance system in the existing three-tier microfinance model; operated through an Apex Bank meant for securing funds from donors and channeling through the Community Banks and Financial Service Associations. The ultimate users are the all women Social Affinity Groups (SAGs) Microenterprise Groups (MEGs) value chain actors, and individual commercial businesses. IRM has devised the regulatory framework to facilitate introduction of Islamic Microfinance in the country, addressed double taxation issues, developed project’s benchmark and action plan, financial modelling for IsDB’s revolving fund, Islamic financial products and systems development, MIS for Islamic microfinance operation integrated with project’s monitoring and evaluation system, as well as, capacity building through Islamic microfinance training toolkits, and implementation support.
